MISSION
To build, maintain and advocate for a system of community and backcountry trails for ski touring, mountain biking and other human-powered activities in the eastern High Peaks region of the Adirondack Park.
At our core, BETA is a member-supported, volunteer-driven, human-powered trail building and stewardship organization.
Our work is focused around the following 3 priorities:
TRAIL STEWARDSHIP
Engage volunteers, members and community partners in the ongoing improvement and maintenance of all existing trails under BETA stewardship. Engage trail users & the local community to improve their knowledge of the local trail systems and the importance of trail etiquette, responsible recreation and stewardship.
NEW TRAIL PLANNING & CONSTRUCTION
BETA staff coordinate with local trail committees, trail users, professional trail builders, land managers and other stakeholders on the planning, design, prioritization and implementation of mission-appropriate trail development projects.
ADVOCACY
Engage in respectful and productive advocacy and partnerships with public land managers, municipalities, private landowners, and other stakeholders as a means to secure the access and support needed to establish and maintain a system of trails across the BETA region.
