History with BETA: I was around for the founding of BETA back in 2009 and served as a volunteer for years before taking over as E/D in 2015. In the early days, when we first realized the potential for mountain bike development in the area it was a huge eye-opener for everyone involved. Our first successes at trail building and the countless hours of labor and advocacy that followed have completely changed the course of mountain biking in the Adirondack Park.
I'm so proud to be part of BETA and I'm humbled daily by the ongoing commitment of local riders and skiers who give so much of their time and energy to making our trails top-notch. It's great to see visitors traveling from near and far to enjoy the trails, but what I love most about the work we do is that we are creating new opportunities for locals to enjoy the lands and forests in their backyard, whether by bike, skis, or on foot. Our work is tangible and directly contributes to quality of life in the community, and that is a huge motivator for me. Favorite trail: Whatever one I'm on at the moment. Favorite season: 4th Winter, usually the best of the various winters we experience each year between October and April. |

History with BETA: Group rides, BETA events and trail days opened the door to a built in community of like-minded people. I was hooked from the start and I’ve solidified many friendships over laughs and stories shared on skis and bikes.
There are 30+ miles of singletrack right out my back door and I am thankful every day for the access that I have. I’ve benefited from BETA’s behind the scenes work for years and want to be part of giving back to the trails that have given so much to me. Favorite trail: On a bike, either the descent from Marble to Ridge to Upper Connector or The Loggers Loops. On skis, Mackenzie Pass mid-snowstorm via headlamp. Favorite season: As much as I loathe springtime bugs, there is no feeling quite like that first short-sleeved ride of the season. |
