VOLUNTEER ON THE TRAILS
BETA maintains over 125 miles of trails for ski touring and mountain biking in the region, and dedicated BETA volunteers are responsible for much of this work on an annual basis. You can get involved by volunteering at a trail day and give back to the trails you love to ride and ski! Please see below for current volunteer opportunities and stay tuned for more details about upcoming trail projects.
2023 VOLUNTEER DAYS
Saturday, April 22
9am to 1pm Flume Trails, Wilmington We’ll break into small groups and fan out across the Flume and Marble Mountain trail networks. Our task is primarily clearing debris from the trails and drainages and inspecting the trails for any additional maintenance needs. Plan to hike 3-4 miles while working. Group size and meeting location will be determined based on the number of participants (another reason to pre-register). Saturday, April 29
9am to 1pm Blueberry Hill Trails, Elizabethtown Much like Wilmington, we’ll break into small groups and fan out across the network. Our task is primarily clearing debris from the trails and drainages and inspecting the trails for any additional maintenance needs. Plan to hike 3-4 miles while working. Meeting location is the first large parking area on Bronson (look for the sand pit and yellow “Trail Work” signs). See map and directions here. |
Monday, April 24
330pm to 730pm East Branch Community Trails, Keene This is the first spring for the new trail system in Keene. The Leepoff Loop and Climbing Trail weathered their first winter very well and the usual spring clean-up is already done, but we need to make modifications to improve drainage in a few key areas. For this project we only need 4-6 people to assist with these improvements. Sunday, May 21
9am to 3pm Mount Pisgah, Saranac Lake Join BETA and SLICK for a day of digging dirt and then shredding dirt at Mt. Pisgah in Saranac Lake. We're building a new extension at the top of the Iron Lung trail near the summit. The goal is to move the climbing route off the ski slope to separate it from The Cure (flow trail) and improve the uphill and downhill riding experience on Iron Lung. Stay for the whole day or just a few hours - it all helps! First we dig, then we ride! After work concludes we'll spin some laps and finish with a casual tailgate party in the parking lot. We'll have a grill so feel free to bring meat and/or cold beverages to share with your fellow trail builders. |
